Environmental impact of fashion industry under scrutiny

It is often described as fashion’s dirty secret, and in recent years there has been increasing recognition of the global environmental impact of the textile industry – however, the true scale of the problem is still not fully understood.

Success for Northumbria students and graduates in international design awards

Two graduates, Jai Mistry and Helen Wat, topped their respective categories in the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Student Design Awards, an international scheme that recognises and rewards budding designers who propose creative solutions for tackling key social, environmental and economic issues.

Students and graduates shine in national design competition

Northumbria School of Design excelled once again in London at New Designers 2023, which recognises rising stars whose unique work highlights key themes such as sustainability, mental health, diversity and other vital areas of responsible design.

Jamie McClusky’s devastated family and friends and girlfriend, Jess Hulme, are determined to help raise awareness of sarcoma which is currently the third most common cancer diagnosed in children, teenagers and young adults.

Jamie’s legacy will help others by raising awareness

A talented Graphic Design student, who tragically died the day after he was diagnosed with a type of cancer called sarcoma, has inspired an awareness-raising initiative involving Northumbria University students and the charity Sarcoma UK.
