The Autumn 2023 edition of Northumbria University’s newspaper is available to collect on campus or read online now.

Packed with the latest news, features and interviews, the newspaper is the perfect way to keep up to date with the exciting developments taking place across the University.

In this issue we highlight Northumbria’s excellence and expertise in space research, including a recent £5 million award from the UK Space Agency. The project will see the University working with leading industry partners to build a new, laser-based satellite communications system.

There is also news of Northumbria’s role as a new Centre for Doctoral Training in Artificial Intelligence. Designed to train the next generation of AI researchers and innovators, the centre is part of a major £118 million investment by UK Research and Innovation.

Other stories include a visit from the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Gillian Keegan; a £2 million investment in Northumbria’s nursing test centre; and Northumbria’s latest climb up the national league tables.

After more than 30 years scientists have finally been able to confirm that the icy planet Uranus has an infrared aurora.
