Scholarship scheme provides support for postgraduate study

Students who have been offered places on postgraduate courses at Northumbria University are being encouraged to apply for one of 50 scholarships currently available.

This is the second year the Vice-Chancellor's Masters Scholarship Scheme has run, with funding of up to £2,750 on offer for selected, full-time, on campus postgraduate courses, starting in September 2017.

This year the 50 scholarships available are also open to EU applicants, as well as those from the UK, with applications closing on 19 March.

Successful applicants will still be eligible to also apply for the government’s Postgraduate Loan of up to £10,000 to support their postgraduate study.

Postgraduate education is perfect for students looking to develop their skills further, as well as gain valuable real world experience, build confidence, and pursue their passion, all of which can be important for progressing within their chosen career.

Northumbria’s postgraduate taught courses are co-created with students and employers to ensure students graduate with the skills, qualifications and experience they need to succeed, with 97% of Northumbria’s postgraduate taught students going on to work or further study within six months of graduation.

Those applying for the Vice-Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship will go through a competitive selection process including a set question linked to their relevant subject area.

Applicants must hold or expect to achieve a first class or 2:1 honours degree from any UK higher education institution. They must also have submitted a masters application to Northumbria and have been made an offer.

All applications will be considered by a selection panel, with scholarships awarded based on the information provided in the application form. The deadline for this round of applications is 19 March and any applications received after this date will not be considered.
