Hidden hero inspires winning fashion project

Fashion student Dede Arisekola wins prestigious research competition by creating a collection inspired by the life of Nigerian feminist Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, overlooked in history. Combining influences from Ahluwalia's founder and her own Nigerian heritage, Dede's designs reflect women's strength and traditions, connecting past and present generations.

Environmental impact of fashion industry under scrutiny

It is often described as fashion’s dirty secret, and in recent years there has been increasing recognition of the global environmental impact of the textile industry – however, the true scale of the problem is still not fully understood.

Success for Northumbria students and graduates in international design awards

Two graduates, Jai Mistry and Helen Wat, topped their respective categories in the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Student Design Awards, an international scheme that recognises and rewards budding designers who propose creative solutions for tackling key social, environmental and economic issues.
