Self-help techniques can be successful in curing acute insomnia, study reveals

Study finds self-help techniques effective in curing acute insomnia, with participants reporting reduced severity, anxiety, and depression. Techniques include keeping the bedroom sleep-friendly, maintaining a sleep diary, and engaging in relaxation activities. The trial led by Dr. Greg Elder resulted in positive outcomes three months after participants began using the techniques.

Contact lenses to diagnose glaucoma

Researchers from Northumbria University and Boğaziçi University have developed a contact lens that can detect changes in eye pressure, an early sign of glaucoma. The lens contains micro-sensors that monitor intra-ocular pressure over several hours and send the data wirelessly for analysis. The technology has been successfully tested on six participants and will undergo further study.
