Press release -
Disruptive Innovation Festival 2015
Northumbria University, Newcastle, is partnering with The Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF) to help deliver the second Disruptive Innovation Festival (DIF) between 2- 20 November 2015.
As one of only a handful of universities globally to work alongside the EMF, Northumbria will deliver a range of activities as part of the DIF, including online courses, TED-talk style presentations and webinars.
The Festival will bring together thought-leaders, entrepreneurs, businesses, makers, learners and doers to catalyse system-level change for a future economy using a mix of online and face to face events. Over three weeks participants have a wealth of opportunities to explore society and the economy through a completely different lens.
Involvement in the festival also provides a number of opportunities for the University and its students.
Mark Bailey, Director of Innovation Design at Northumbria, said: “This is our second year as a key partner in the DIF and we are hugely excited to be involved again. It means we can showcase our research expertise and what we can offer to business in a range of subject areas, on a global scale and to new markets. Participation in such a prestigious and cutting-edge global event will raise the profile of Northumbria, particularly in relation to innovation, and importantly enhance the student learning experience through their contributions.
“We are also in a good position to build on our partnership with EMF through the development of new courses and modules on the circular economy and disruptive innovation.”
Academic colleagues and research students across Northumbria are encouraged to showcase relevant work through this global event. Existing material, work in progress or entirely new material may all be used. If you are interested in participating, then please email Mark Bailey, Director of Innovation Design in order to find out more.
