Royal Geographical Society honours Northumbria geographer

An Early Career Researcher from Northumbria University has been recognised by the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) with one of 26 medals and annual awards presented to outstanding people and organisations for their notable contributions to geography.

Collaborating with coastal communities on regeneration is key

Researchers at Northumbria University have undertaken a project exploring sustainable planning with the coastal communities in North and South Tyneside. The team developed and championed methods to enable communities to co-design how urban redevelopment might best serve their neighbourhoods.

The research project, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, aims to create a comprehensive database and shed light on the personal stories behind the statistics.
