Northumbria University launches The North Edit Magazine

Northumbria University has published the first edition of The North Edit, a new high-quality annual magazine showcasing the breadth of the University's research, teaching and partnerships spanning the globe.

Designed to highlight the genuine life-changing impact Northumbria is having on individuals, on the North East, and beyond, each edition of The North Edit will feature stories on some of the most pressing challenges of our time, from climate change to artificial intelligence, alongside stories that celebrate student and graduate successes.

As one of the region's largest educators and employers, Northumbria stands ready to support people with potential, remove whatever barriers may stand in their way and send them out into the world equipped to make a genuine difference.

This sense of ambition is reflected in the launch edition where readers will discover more about NESST – the University’s new North East Space Skills and Technology Centre – and plans for the centre for writing and publishing to be based in Newcastle – two new ventures that highlight the critical role the University plays in shaping and growing the regional economy.

Features in the first edition also highlight research improving astronaut health; delivering policy changes benefitting school children and families; and sustainably cooling cities sweltering under the effects of climate change.

The North Edit marks a deliberate evolution from Northumbria University News, the newspaper which has been produced to share stories from the University for more than a decade.

Printed copies of the magazine are being distributed and are also available on request and a digital version is also available to read online.
