Cross Border Crime investigated at Business School

Newcastle Business School has hosted the 17th Cross Border Crime Colloquium, bringing together experts from around the world to discuss the latest developments in empirical research, legislation and law enforcement,

Co-sponsored by Teesside University, the event ran from 26-28th June and welcomed 45 speakers and participants from the US, Australia, Nigeria, Israel, and from East and Western Europe. Papers were delivered on fraud and financial crime; corruption; money laundering and crime money; old and new forms of organised crime; migration, human trafficking and exploitation.

Professor Jackie Harvey, from Newcastle Business School, said: “This is an important annual event covering some of the most challenging criminal activities facing the international community today. Attendees commented that this year’s event was one of the best ever and were highly complementary of the organisation, venue, catering and accommodation available at the university.

Selected papers from the conference will be published in the peer reviewed edited volume from the event (prior editions can be viewed at http://www.cross-border-crime.net/). The 2017 conference is being hosted by Comenius University, Bratislava.

Newcastle Business School has a growing international reputation for delivering some of the best business education. It was named ‘UK Business School of the Year’ at the Times Higher Education Awards 2015.
